The Minister of foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu was outraged by the statement made by the U.S. Embassy in Ankara. In a paper published on 11 September, the diplomatic mission has expressed fears in connection with the dismissal of 24 mayors and called as soon as possible to hold new elections.
«We have too much to fear, for example, the growth of racism in the United States. More blacks die at the hands of police, but we don’t make statements and announce our position directly to the representatives of the administration. This requires politeness, » he said.
According to the Minister, we are talking about interference in the internal Affairs of Turkey. «You feel entitled to say whatever you want. But you are not our master. If you want to strengthen bilateral relations, we should not look down on us,» he added, accusing the U.S. of violating the Vienna Convention.
Cavusoglu also urged the US to arrest residing in Pennsylvania, the Turkish theologian Fethullah Gullen, which Ankara calls the organizer of the attempted coup on July 15-16, 2016.
