Soon, Baghdad will host a meeting of representatives of Iran, Turkey and Iraq. It is expected to put forward a joint initiative to put an end to the growing boycott of Qatar.
However, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged the member States of the Council of cooperation of Arab Gulf countries to start a dialogue and try to overcome the crisis independently.
Erdogan held consultations on the issue with the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, Emir of Kuwait Sabah al-Ahmad, the king of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz and the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
The Emir of Kuwait called on the Qatari leader to exercise restraint and refrain from steps that could lead to new escalation. He also expressed hope that Sheikh Tamim will work to promote the settlement of the conflict.
