Turkish foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning the decision of the US authorities to make the head of the Hamas political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh in the list of terrorists. In Ankara claim that this step does not take into account political realities and harm in the middle East.

Ismail Haniyeh was born 29 January 1963, in the Palestinian refugee camp of Shati in Gaza. In 1987 he graduated from the Islamic University of Gaza in the Department of Arabic literature, and in the same year joined the ranks of the new «Islamic resistance movement» (Hamas).
In 1992 Ismail Haniyeh was deported by the Israeli authorities in southern Lebanon, he returned to Gaza a year later and began working at the Islamic University.
Haniyeh was one of the closest aides of spiritual leader of Hamas, Sheikh Ahmad Yassin. In 1998 he became the head of his office. In 2004, the IDF destroyed Yassin.
Shortly after the elimination of Ahmed Yassin and then his successor Abdel Aziz Rantisi, Ismail Haniyeh headed the Hamas government in Gaza.
In may 2017, Ismail Haniyeh, was elected the new head of the Hamas political Bureau after his predecessor, Khaled Mashaal, has resigned.
