By the middle of 2018, the leadership of the microblogging service Twitter plans to transfer personal data of Russian citizens on servers located on the territory of Russia, reports «Interfax» with reference to the head of Roskomnadzor Alexander Zharov.
September 1, 2015 came into force amendments to the law On personal data protection which require personal data localization in Russia. Under the new rules, any Russian or foreign company, focused on work with Russian users, must ensure recording, systematization, accumulation, storage, specification of personal data of Russian citizens using databases located on the territory of the Russian Federation.
In November 2016 in Russia was blocked by the social network LinkedIn in connection with the failure of management to follow the law on personal data localization in Russia.
