The Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu after his return to Israel from the United States said it intends to appoint tzachi Hanegbi, to the post of interim Minister of communications.
Until now, the portfolio of the Minister of communications remained in the hands of Netanyahu. The head of government said that Hanegbi was appointed for a three-month period, and then will make the decision on his permanent appointment to this post.
The intention of Netanyahu to transfer the portfolio of the Minister of communications to another member of the government reported this week. Now in the hands of the head of the government there was one additional portfolio of Minister of foreign Affairs. On 31 January, the High court of justice, responding to the appeal of opposition leader Isaac Herzog, ordered the head of the government or the legal adviser to the government of Aviha Mandelblit until February 20 to explain why Netanyahu continues to hold the posts of Minister of communications and Minister of foreign Affairs.
Hanegbi also holds the post of Minister of regional cooperation.
Opposition politicians criticized the new decision of the Prime Minister. The leader of the bloc «Zionist camp» Isaac Herzog asked Prime Minister to appoint a permanent head of the Ministry.
«Netanyahu has delegated the Ministry of communications into the hands of the Minister tzachi Hanegbi, for a period of three months after me filed a lawsuit in the high court. This seems like a bad joke. It seems that Netanyahu wanted to delay the resignation of the Minister of communications, but it is obvious that he will not be able to hold this post. I believe that the Prime Minister should fully abandon the post of Minister of communications, and forever.
I and the fraction of «Zionist camp» will continue the struggle against the explicit conflicts of interest. We will fight till the end, while Netanyahu did not go away completely with the post of Minister of communications, or, as the court will not order him to do it,» — says the statement of the Duke, the press service of the «Zionist camp.»
