The President of the United States Donald trump instructed the head of the state Department Rex Tillerson to continue efforts to rebuild relations with Russia – despite the ongoing US investigation into alleged links between pre-election team of trump and the Kremlin.
This was told Tillerson during his visit to New Zealand, said on Tuesday, June 6, the news Agency AP. «He gave me a very clear (disposal): work in any possible the pace and in those areas in which I think we can make progress (with Russia)» – quotes the words of U.S. Secretary of state website NEWSru.com. He, however, refused to comment on the details of the aforementioned investigation, citing the fact that he had «no accurate information».
The election trump, who was considered Pro-Russian candidate, was welcomed in Russia with rejoicing. During his election campaign he repeatedly stated intention to improve relations between the two countries and flattering spoke about the Russian leader Vladimir Putin. An ex-employee of state Department has told, in particular, about the attempts of trump immediately after coming to power to lift sanctions against Russia
However, after the inauguration of trump’s rhetoric has changed markedly – it has revised its view on the Alliance, which previously called «obsolete». In may, trump said about the threats from Russia, but also acknowledged that relations between the US and PATO with Russia are «very low.»
Similar conclusions were reached in Moscow in March, Russian President Vladimir Putin has admitted that relations between Russia and the U.S. are practically zero. March 31, the official Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview on ABC that relations between the two countries are at a lower level than during the cold war.
