The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at an extraordinary meeting held on Wednesday, 15 February, adopted a decision on introduction of state of emergency in the energy sector, the news Agency UNIAN.
The state of emergency aims to reduce the consumption deficit of anthracite coal used by thermal power plants of Ukraine.
«We will do everything, and now putting these measures in order to prevent or minimize any outages… We will control the system in such a way as to minimize any negative consequences for the citizens of Ukraine. I want to emphasize that disconnection will occur only in extreme cases and we will advance to inform. Now the question is not so» – said Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groisman.
The current coal shortage was the result of the continued blockade of the railway communication with the areas of ATO.
25 January 2017 veterans of the ATO blocked Railways Luhansk – Popasna in the framework of the trade embargo beyond the control of Kyiv regions of Donbass.
