The President of Federation of biathlon of Ukraine, first Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Vladimir Brynzak said that Ukraine temporarily refused to participate in all sporting events in Russia, according to Sport.ua.
He said that after consultation with the policy «it was decided temporarily to withdraw from participation in tournaments held in Russia.»
Initially it was decided to boycott the world Cup stage on biathlon which will pass in Tyumen.
The Minister of youth and sport Igor Zhdanov wrote on his page on Facebook : «I have informed the government about the decision of the federations of the USA, Canada and the Czech Republic to boycott the world Cup in Tyumen.
I reported on the meeting with the head of the biathlon Federation of Ukraine Volodymyr Brynzak and the joint decision not to participate in this tournament, and the Ministry Decree banning Ukrainian athletes to participate in tournaments in Russia.
