The UN Agency for refugees (UNHCR) reports that in 2016 the record was broken internally displaced – refugees in foreign countries or their steel 64.5 million people.
That’s 300 thousand more than in 2015, but six million more than in 2014.
As noted in the statement of the UNHCR, this means that every three seconds one person in the world is forced to leave his house.
Of 64,5 million internally displaced persons 22.5 million people are refugees. 40,4 million internally displaced persons. The 2.8 million people who have submitted a request for refugee status.
The largest number of refugees (5.5 million) come from Syria, followed Afghanistan (2.5 million).
