Sunday, June 25, the government decided to freeze the project for the construction of additional land for the prayers of the representatives of heterodox currents.
According to published information, the decision was made under pressure from the ultra-Orthodox factions. SHAS and «yaadut Torah» sought full repeal of the compromise, however, the Prime Minister put to the vote the proposal to freeze the compromise. Ministers Yuval Steinitz (Likud) and Avigdor Lieberman (Yisrael Beiteinu) voted against.
At the moment it is unknown what decision will be made on the bill to convert to Judaism, which was initiated by the ultra-Orthodox faction.
Earlier, the head of the faction «Our home Israel» Robert Ilatov said in an interview with NEWSru.co.il: «We are witness to a series of initiatives ultra-Orthodox factions that are detrimental to the stability of the coalition».
