According to the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), for the first time since the beginning of the crisis European migration the majority of migrants crossing the border from Greece to Macedonia are women and children.
According to figures from June of last year, 73% of crossing borders of Europe, migrants were young single men or men who left their families at home. Refugees under the age of 18 years accounted for only 10% of migrants.

Earlier, the international organization for migration (IOM) stated that every fifth of the migrants who drowned last month while trying to get from Turkey to Greece, were kids (60 of 272 of the dead).
