The Ministry of internal Affairs of Syria announced on Monday morning, 1 February, resulting in double bombing the day before near the main Shiite Holy places in Syria – mosque Saida Zeynab, killed at least 76 people and about 110 were injured.
The Qatari channel «al Jazeera» reports that the responsibility for the attack claimed by Sunni group «Islamic state».
As reported by Syrian media, the action was set a car bomb. Shortly afterwards nearby in a bus was blown up by a suicide bomber.
Zeinab is the granddaughter of the prophet Muhammad and the daughter of Caliph Ali, married the prophet’s daughter Fatima. According to legend, the mosque is its tomb. The district repeatedly became the place of battles. In 2012, the mosque suffered significant damage during the fighting.
