The United States repeated its threat to leave the UN Council on human rights after this international organization, held last Friday session, approved five anti-Israel resolutions.
The publication Times of Israel notes that in this meeting, officials adopted only two resolutions against the Syrian regime and one against Iran, North Korea, South Sudan and Myanmar.
The resolutions against Israel was «human rights in the occupied Syrian Golan,» «the rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination», «the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem and Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem and the occupied Syrian Golan» and «accountability and justice for violations of international law in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem».
USA and Australia were the only members of Council who voted against all five resolutions.
US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley commented on the actions of Council as follows: «Structure, which believes that Israel is worse than North Korea, Iran and Syria, stupid and unworthy to be called by the Council for human rights. It is time for countries who are able to carry out reforms. Many believe that the agenda of the UN is biased against Israel, but few are willing to deal with it. And today, the Council once again proved that it is not able to fulfill its mission and protect human rights around the world. US patience is limited, and we will again consider the advisability of entering into this structure.»
