The US has warned that the sale of Russian aircraft to Iran without the authorization of the UN security Council would constitute a violation of the terms of the agreement on the nuclear program of the Islamic Republic.
Earlier it was reported that Iran, in addition to other weapons, is interested in buying Russian Sukhoi su-30CM.
State Department spokesman mark Toner said the UN security Council resolution No. 2231 prohibits the sale of such weapons to Iran without the authorization of the security Council. Permission must also be obtained for each transaction.
Toner added that the U.S. intends to discuss with Russia the issue.
Recently in Moscow was held the meeting with the defense Minister of Iran Hossein Dehghani. Against this background, it was reported that Iran plans to buy Russian weapons at eight billion dollars.
