After the aggravation of the conflict between Russia and Turkey over downed Syrian-Turkish border Russian bomber su-24 Russian President Vladimir Putin has become one of the most popular world leaders among the Druze and Armenians living in Israel.
In Druze villages in the North of the country you can now find the posters glorifying Bashar al-Assad, and Vladimir Putin. There are such posters, and in Jerusalem, including the Armenian in the Windows of shops.
On 30 November, Putin met and talked in Paris, during the environmental summit, with the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, noting that «the mechanism of interaction» between the Russian and the Israeli military (in Syria) is functioning properly. Netanyahu also stressed the importance of cooperation and coordination between the military to avoid «unnecessary mistakes».
In September, Netanyahu met with Putin in Moscow. Then they talked several times by phone.
