According to the portal Walla citing senior Palestinian sources, the Israeli government rejected the proposal of the Palestinian leadership to resume negotiations to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
According to these data, the highest echelons of the defense establishments of the two countries held a series of consultations on this issue. It was assumed that the resumption of the peace process will help put an end to the current wave of violence.
The Palestinians reiterated his pre-conditions: freezing construction in the settlements, agreement in principle that the 1967 border will be taken as the base, and the release of 36 prisoners, agreement about the liberation of which was reached during the talks in 2013-2014.
However, the Israelis said that the resumption of negotiations will be possible only after the cessation of terrorist attacks. They also refused to accept preconditions, noting that they are ready to think about «goodwill gestures».
