U.S. President Barack Obama is closely monitoring the spread of the terrorist group «Islamic state» in Libya and, if necessary, take military action in this North African country.
This was stated on Wednesday, 3 February, White house press Secretary Josh Ernest during the meeting to reporters.
«If the need arises, the US will not hesitate to take unilateral steps to protect the American people», – quotes the words of Ernest to news Agency Reuters.
We will remind that on September 14 last year, the Pentagon reported that Libya was liquidated one of the leaders of the local branch of the terrorist organization «Islamic state» – Iraqi citizen, Abu Nabil, or vises Najm Abd Zayd al-Zubaidi. Before becoming one of the leaders of the Libyan branch of ISIS, he was a member of a terrorist network «al-Qaeda».
Pentagon press Secretary Peter cook reported that, according to U.S. defense Department, Abu Nabil was a participant in the murder of the Coptic hostages in Libya in February 2015.
