The Minister of transport and exploration Yisrael Katz made a trial trip on the first elektrifizierung section of high-speed railway tel Aviv – Jerusalem.
During the trip, Minister Katz announced that he had decided to call this line the name of king David. The decision of the head of transport Department argued as follows: «We are improving transport links to Jerusalem and be reunited with the history of the capital. I believe it is fair from the point of view of our history known as the new line in honor of king David, in whose reign Jerusalem became capital of Israel.»
Minister Katz noted that the introduction of new branches into operation is scheduled for the end of March, the eve of Passover.
Project high-speed tel Aviv – Jerusalem includes two railway tracks with a length of 56 kilometres each way. Estimated time in the Drogo one way on the route tel Aviv – Jerusalem — 28 minutes, including a stop at the airport «Ben Gurion». This branch is an offshoot of the city of modi’in.
Railway line originates at the «Yitzhak Navona» («Ha-Uma») in Jerusalem and ends with the station AGANA to tel Aviv. The construction of the station «Yitzhak Navona» is made at a depth of 80 meters.

Of a schedule in the first year of operation of the new line on this route (tel Aviv – Jerusalem) planned movement of two trains per hour in each direction. Then, after a few months, this number will increase to three trains per hour. In the future this number may be increased to six.
